What is it and where does it come from?

Horticultural grit is sourced from natural deposits where it is extracted, crushed, washed and graded, it can be made from a variety of different rock types so colour can vary.

So what makes horticultural grit great for house plant soil?

  • Has large particles that help improve the aeration and drainage of the soil.

  • Helps prevent soil compaction by maintaining the structure of the soil. This allows plant roots to penetrate more easily and facilitates the movement of water and nutrients through the soil.

  • Great for plants which require fast drainage like cacti and succulents.

  • Looks great as a soil topper.
